On Sunday night, the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards were streamed live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey. It's definitely the most exciting music event of the year. The place was filled with the most talented performers, who waited for the announcement in stunning gowns. Meanwhile, fantastic artists such as Nicki Minaj, Lizzo, Måneskin, Eminem and Snoop Dogg ensured the atmosphere was buzzing. To our enormous delight, Red Hot Chili Peppers returned to the MTV VMAs stage after more than 20 years and even received a Global Icon Award. So cool! And this year's hosts included the uncrowned queen of the Barbiecore trend, Nicki Minaj.

At these events, the spotlight is on the candidates and the outfits too. Instead of formal attire, stars at the VMAs are more likely to choose outfits that are experimental, exciting and express their personality. Many of the stars on this year's "black carpet" appeared in dark shades. Rhinestones, studs, tulle, corsets, sheer details, cut-outs and lots of sparkle. These were the dominant styles of the show, which certainly foreshadow the trends to come.

Lizzo arrived in a grandiose Jean Paul Gaultier couture creation with matching matte navy lipstick and gold jewellery.
Each member of Måneskin looked like a SUPERMODEL, wearing glittering capes, sheer Gucci corsets and studded leather accessories.
Taylor Swift wore a dazzling Oscar de la Renta crystal gown while accepting the award for Best Video Clip of the Year.
Lil Nas X wore a dramatic, sculptural Harris Reed creation, consisting of a tiered feathered skirt and headpiece, also adorned with feathers.
Sabrina Carpenter was the modern Barbie of the gala. She's literally glowing in her gorgeous, colourful stone embellished dress and 60's hairstyle.
Ashley Graham is in fantastic shape and showed it off in an extravagant cut-out gown.

Becky G's rhinestone-embellished dress is eye-catching at first glance, but even more dazzling from the side.
