Dolce & Gabbana’s 2021 Alta Moda Show in Venice
Can you imagine a more romantic place for an haute couture show than the historical city, Venice? This amazing city was the backdrop of the 2021 Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda Show.
"For us, Venice represents the perfect harmony of opposites that attract: it is romantic and sensual, melancholic and joyful, rational and visionary, luminous and nocturnal, sacred and profane, dark and golden," Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana said in a statement after the show. "It is the city of Casanova, of the Carnival, of the historic regatta on the Grand Canal."
The natural lightning and the old, romantic city were the main hosts of the event. The beautiful St Mark’s Square was the scene of a fashion show, for the first time in history. The collection included 100 looks, the models arrived by gondolas to the historic venue and were wearing velvets, silks, georgettes, colourful crystals and glasses. The show was a celebration of high Italian craftsmanship, with all pieces made by hand.
Since the pandemic started, this was the biggest celebrity event. The star crowd included Jennifer Lopez, Helen Mirren, Kourtney Kardashian, Monica Bellucci, Christian Bale, Sean Combs, Doja Cat, Kris Jenner, Ciara and many others. The celebrities' children were also casted to the show, just as Monica Bellucci's daughter Deva, Christian Bale's daughter Luka and Heidi Klum's daughter Leni.
The show started with the amazing Jennifer Hudson’s performance, and ended with a gondola trip taking all guests to the dinner. I wish I could have been there...
