Christian Dior, born in Granville, France, was the second of five children in a wealthy family. Despite his family's hopes for him to become a diplomat, Dior pursued his passion for art and began selling fashion sketches. He gained recognition when his sketches were discovered by Robert Piguet, leading to a position as a designer at Piguet's fashion house, where he worked alongside Pierre Balmain. In 1946, with the backing of entrepreneur Marcel Boussac, Dior founded his own fashion house and presented his debut collection in 1947, known as the "New Look." This collection revolutionized women's fashion and reestablished Paris as the center of the fashion world. Dior's designs inspired post-war women and helped reignite their love for fashion. Sadly, Dior passed away in 1957 from a sudden heart attack while on vacation. His successors upheld his legacy, infusing their creativity into the brand. Dior's iconic designs have adorned celebrities and continue to captivate not only with garments but also with fragrances, makeup, and accessories. Today, the House of Dior combines heritage and innovation, embodying timeless beauty. Dior remains an icon of style and glamour, inspiring designers and fashion enthusiasts worldwide.
