Our fashion week diary from Copenhagen

on February 06, 2022

Dear Fashionlover,

I am here to report to you, about the AW22 Copenhagen Fashion Week, which is getting hotter and hotter, season by season. The fashion scene is very cool, as the brands are not just focusing on design, but they have a mission to make the pieces as sustainable as possible. There were some absolutely gorgeous looks you really must see.

May I present you the newest collection from four unique designers? Get to know them better, and read their inspiration about the runway show or click on the pictures and see our selections.

Baum und Pferdgarten

Eclectic, bold and poetic. They want to inspire and empower people. Their mission is to find joy in dressing, and to make personalized style a self-expression statement.

"Drifting seas of ice. Unforgiving winds. Months without sunlight. The inhospitable north pole has always been a place of extremes – and unending fascination. The northernmost place on the planet is the point of departure for Baum und Pferdgarten’s latest collection, which taps into the arctic north with a contemporary vision of emboldened femininity and the forces of nature.

Building on pre-autumn’s collection, the mood for the season is cool, yet calm and collected. Looking for layers of protection against the elements, styles are rooted in a Nordic aesthetic that plays out in contrasts between light and dark, masculine and feminine, and the multiplicity of the seasons. Ethereal fabrics are juxtaposed with hardy performance materials and soft, fluid lines are offset with stringent tailoring and carefully considered details. Underscoring Baum und Pferdgarten’s strong and eclectic DNA, the collection is a celebration of colour, texture and pattern that spans polar opposites – flamboyant contrasts and subtle shifts – to make every piece an adventure."

Ganni

Based in Copenhagen, owned by husband and wife, Ditte Reffstrup and Nicolaj Reffstrup. Ganni is a minimalistic, yet chic brand with a vision and a sense of quality.

"FW22 #GANNILOVEFOREVEREVER SHOW & PERFORMANCE BY JADA

“Music has always been my biggest inspiration and lately I’ve been listening to a lot of early 90s Björk and PJ Harvey who were both huge role models for me as a teenager growing up in a small fishing village. Every feeling was so intense; one song would be a ferocious wild roar while the next would reveal them as vulnerable, almost fragile as a flower. Their laidback feminine but totally badass jump-around-the-room energy and style is similar to GANNI, super feminine but full of power and confidence, and this collection channels that early-90s spirit.” – Ditte Reffstrup, Creative Director, GANNI

For Fall/Winter 2022 we are thrilled to present “LOVE FOREVER EVER”, a unique live performance project and continuation of our FW21 concept. Taking place in Copenhagen’s most iconic live music venue VEGA, LOVE FOREVER EVER sets the stage for trailblazing singer and Copenhagen’s own, Jada. Tune in here to watch the show."

Gestuz

The brand has the modern woman in mind. Go-to pieces combine with innovative aesthetic, while embracing everyday life, yet, their designs are still rock on the runway.

"THE TIME TRAVELLER She couldn't travel the world, so she started travelling in time."

Samsøe Samsøe

An international brand rooted in simplicity, defined as wearable and easy. A must-have point of Copenhagen Street style with a quintessentially Scandinavian spirit.

"As the year of 2021 passes we dwell on thoughts of what has been, what is happening now and what is to come. The collection is a celebration of youth and the ever-changing cultures that the brand gets inspired by from season to season.

With the AW22 collection, named ‘PAST PRESENT FUTURE', we celebrate individuality and inclusiveness through the freedom of expression. A daring statement emerges, with bold colour pops, prints and a general urge for finding your own identity."

Hope you enjoyed this quick runway-insider with me.
